NGO MONDO
KONGO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION
Kongo Village, Ghana
Description
Kongo Community Development Association (KoCDA) is a community-based organization located in Kongo, in Ghana’s Upper East Region. The organization is seeking a dedicated volunteer to support its empowerment programs focused on expanding economic opportunities and promoting sustainable community development. These initiatives aim to improve livelihoods and advance women’s empowerment across multiple sectors. The volunteer will work directly with women’s cooperatives engaged in shea butter production, basket weaving, and cloth weaving, as well as with school-age children. Through this engagement, KoCDA seeks to foster lasting empowerment grounded in cultural understanding and community participation.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteers will be hosted at the NDAHA Guesthouse. The rooms are titled, and volunteers have their lockable room, toilet, and shower in each room. There is no Air Conditioner, but each room has ceiling fans. There is running water and electricity. Volunteers can prepare their food because there is a kitchen, a kitchen cabinet, a refrigerator to use. Tropical food, fruits, and vegetables are readily available and in abundance. There are supermarkets in the regional capital, Bolgatanga, where volunteers can get their needs.
Training during the activity
This opportunity is part of the BRIDGE project (Building Resilience, Innovation, Development and Gender Equality), in which volunteers will have the chance to work on a common objective: empowerment and skills development of vulnerable communities, with a focus on women groups and enhance digital skills, participate in UN Women Summits and animating digital workshops.
