The Lebenshilfe Aurich-Wittmund gGmbH operates facilities in the districts of Aurich and Wittmund. This includes the Aurich workshop for the disabled as a placement site. The main focus of the workshop in Aurich is the care and individual support of 208 disabled individuals who, due to the nature or severity of their disabilities, cannot or are not yet employed in the general labor market, with the aim of offering these individuals appropriate vocational training and employment opportunities. You support the professionals in the individual support of our clients. You accompany our employees in targeted work and occupational therapy activities. Additionally, you contribute to the social design of everyday group life, the implementation of leisure activities, and the achievement of various development goals. Previous experiences in the field of social work or in working with people with disabilities ar an advantage but not necessary. The same applies to German language skills.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Together with you additional volunteers are expected to gain experience for a year at Lebenshilfe Aurich-Wittmund Holding gGmbH. You will reside in a shared apartment with other volunteers. The project manager will show you the essential places of daily life in Aurich and introduce you to the Ostfriesland region and its numerous recreational opportunities. You will receive a public transportation ticket, which allows you to explore Ostfriesland and travel throughout Germany. An international police clearance certificate as well as a health certificate are necessary to work in our facility.
Training during the activity
In your everyday work, an experienced professional will be by your side as a professional companion and will support you in integrating you into our professional environment. The project manager will regularly exchange ideas with you and reflect on the experiences gained. Additionally, you will participate in the seminar program for the company's German volunteers and attend a German language course. At the end of your voluntary service, you will receive a YouthPass certificate.
Participant profile
If you are interested in our social enterprise, if you enjoy shaping the daily work life of our clients with joy and enthusiasm, if you are also willing to take responsibility and enjoy tackling new tasks and challenges, then you are in the right place with us. German language skills at level A2 or B1 would be helpful for the voluntary service, but they are not mandatory. In addition to the interesting and varied field of activity with countless encounters and experiences, you will receive 24 days of vacation, a monthly allowance of €468, free lunch during working hours, 25 seminar days, a German language course, a Germany Ticket, and a YouthPass certificate.
