Description

Kreisjugendwerk of AWO Karlsruhe is a nonprofit children and youth organization offering non formal education and workshops to people in age 6 -23. It also organize local events for the community with the aim to promote inclusion and solidarity. Your tasks are: giving administrative support in the ESC and in international programs in the office, promoting and organising events, taking part to creative local initiatives, tidying and sorting the matierial needed for the projects. A confident use of computer and social media profiles is important, as well as it is welcomed a driving licence. In summer holidays you can join the camps as a leader and team groups of children. You will also work on weekends sometimes, but you will have 2 free days afterwards.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will live in a house together with 6 European volunteers, all working in different ESC projects. The house is right next to Kalrsruhe, which you can reach in 15min by tram or train. You will have a travel card to move for free in whole Germany. The house is quite big and has a kitchen, two lounge rooms, a bathroom and a separate toilet, a balcony and a yard. 2 of the bedrooms are very small, so we introduced a „rotating system“. Training during the activity

A mentor and the office members will offer support throughout the year. You will take part in the On-Arrival and the Midterm-Training, which take place in a different city in Germany and in group with other ESC volunteers. You will also join a training from the Jugendwerk itself facing topics such as youth work and pedagogical aspects. You will get a certificate at the end of this training, which you can use to be a camp leader working with kids. Furthermore, you have the possibility to atted first aid, german language, climbing and lifeguard courses for free.

Participant profile

• Motivation in working in an office/computer and with children/youngsters • Knowledge of computer work • Driver’s license preferred • motivation in some phisical work, such as carrying the boxes with the material for the activities ot tidying up • Good knowledge of English and preferred basics of German • if you are an active and sportive person, friendly with children and able with the media, liking parties and sleepovers in big groups, this position is for you!
