If you are interested please contact: Germany - IBG Spain - LaRotllana LasNinaTul Greece - SCIHellas France - Solidarites Jeunesses Ukraine - Union Forum In the first week, volunteers will support local rangers in Petralia Sottana with forest maintenance and fire prevention, including clearing dry vegetation and maintaining trails. In the second week, they will move to Palermo to work with Rangers d’Italia, focusing on green area maintenance and promoting environmental awareness. This project fosters practical skills, cultural exchange, and personal growth.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will stay in two locations during this program. In Petralia Sottana, they will be accommodated in a local monastery, with meals and local transport tickets provided by InformaGiovani ETS. In Palermo, volunteers will reside in a centrally located hostel in shared 4-bed rooms. InformaGiovani ETS will ensure the provision of meals and local transport for both locations.
Participant profile
Volunteers must be physically capable of performing outdoor tasks such as land maintenance and wildfire prevention. A strong sense of responsibility and teamwork is essential, as activities will involve close collaboration with local organizations. Basic awareness of environmental issues and a genuine interest in conservation efforts are encouraged. Volunteers should be adaptable, as tasks may vary based on weather conditions and project needs. While no specific technical skills are required, participants must be eager to learn and strictly adhere to safety guidelines to ensure the successful completion of the activities. Candidates must be 18 to 30 years old and reside in one of the eligible countries. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
