Description

The volunteer, in close contact with the teachers and youth leaders of the schools will be a testimony of his/her own culture, will participate in the social, cultural and pedagogical areas of the school as Ambassador of his/her own culture: organizing events/exhibitions related to his/her country, propose creative workshops, language support-initiation-games, support to teachers in preparing school foreign exchanges, clubs during the students' free time, help with the communication activities of the school. The volunteer will encouraged to propose his/her own projects. The volunteer will also participate in a collective project about Europe organized together with the other European volunteers hosted in Redon and will have time on working hours dedicated to this specific project as well as French classes.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will share a furnished flat with the other European volunteers hosted in Redon, or with French people. Everyone has got his own single bedroom, and the flat mates have to share the living, kitchen and bathroom. The flat is 15-20 mn walk from the schools, and 10 from the town center. The volunteer can also use a bicycle to move in the town.The volunteers must take care of their flat and keep it clean and ordered.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will get the support from the school teachers, from the school mentor, who will take time to listen to him, answer his/her questions and guide him/her in the activities. On another hand, the volunteer will have the support of the European coordinator in Mapar (the coordinating organization), who will support him/her during all his/her stay. The volunteer will also follow French classes during all the length of the project.

Participant profile

The candidate should be motivated to work in a school, with teenagers, including some facing difficulties and to take part in team. The corresponding candidate will be dynamic and autonomous, empathic, feel comfortable with teenagers and to talk to them, will be eager to share passions, hobbies, artistic techniques.... with the students. Applications from candidates above 20 years old with basic skills in French (A2-B1) will be highly appreciated + managing one of the other languages taught in the school (English, German, Italian, Spanish) will be an advantage for the selection and to communicate with the students.
