Latitude Jeunes - Réseau Solidaris- Province de Liège

Liège, Belgium

Description

Latitude Jeunes (LJ) is a non-profit organisation which aims to contribute to the physical, mental and social wellbeing of children and youngsters. LJ creates spaces for small children, youth and parents, provides after-school care for children and youth, organizes workshops in schools on various themes, such as addiction, social security, democracy, gender, managing one’s image in social networks, food, sustainable development etc. It is also a place for children and youngsters to spend their free time playing games and socializing. The volunteer will be involved in LJ’s daily life, helping to create and organise different activities for children and youth, as well as participating in animation and holiday camps, helping out in the library, after school homeworks support and so on. It is also important that the volunteer brings their own idea.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will be sharing an accomodation with other housemates, in the city of Liège. They will have their own bedroom and will share the others areas. Food and pocket money is provided every month to the volunteer, who has to manage their budget by themselves. The accommodation and the place where the volunteering takes place are close to each other, and therefore reachable by walking, by bus or by bike.

Training during the activity

Training Info Cycle is organised by the Belgian National Agency. Get Together seminars organized by Compagnons Bâtisseurs Belgium (the coordinating organization). The volunteers can also take part in the training of international leaders organized twice a year by CBB. French classes are available whenever possible, additionally to the online linguistic support. Workshops organised by LJ are also open to the volunteer: first aid course, party make up and so on.
