ASSOCIATION IRSAM

LYON, France

Description

The objective of the mission is to facilitate social inclusion of DHH with disabilities. For that, the volunteer will be in charge to create and support living spaces ensuring local animations such as exhibitions, varnishing, etc. IRSAM already has many works of art from years of creation and history of its residents. Our organisation would like to be able to showcase these creations through an art library (artothèque). The volunteer would have to launch and manage social inclusion projects or open mind activities like intercultural workshops, cooking workshops, sports events. IRSAM has received the quality label of the European solidarity corps. This label allows it to host and send European young people with few opportunities to complete a several months mission into our institutes. Irsam is in charge of European projects (HIPEN and ENVITER network) with other European partner institutions.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will be accommodated in a private room on the top floor of the Chaumette building on the IES Les Primevères in Lyon. He will also have a shower (at the first floor) and toilet (on second floor). The volunteer will be provided with accommodation and food, and meals which can be taken at the workplace.

Training during the activity

Training in french, and french sign language.

Participant profile

The profile of the volunteer should be comfortable with social interactions and have some experiences in the scope of disability and/or sensory impairment. As all our residents are deaf, the communication with the residents is in French sign language. A sensitivity to the world of deafness is a must. However, a basic training in LSF is possible. We would like to welcome a volunteer of Italian or Spanish nationality or speaking, with adaptability, entrepreneurial skills, comfortable and enjoyable artistic and/or sports topics. An understanding and/or speaking French is a plus.
