Description

The French Red Cross acts unconditionally to protect and support people in vulnerable situations, helping them rebuild and strengthen their resilience. In Grenoble, you will take part in welcoming people during the day by helping run a day shelter, and you will mainly support our food and clothing distribution activities. You will also contribute to our outreach efforts, including mobile support operations and street outreach (maraudes). If your French level allows, we can offer you a training pathway to become a first aid instructor (PSC – Prévention et Secours Civiques), and you will have the opportunity to lead training sessions as part of your mission.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will have his own room in a young workers or intergenerational residence. He/she will receive pocket money and money to buy food. He/she will by provided with a public transportation card.

Training during the activity

The Red Cross offers training courses for all its members in line with their missions. For this opportunity, the training courses could be: PSC1 (first aid) + Trainer PSC1 (to become a first aid trainer), role and position of support for people engaged in social actions, Psychological First Aid, Training on internal tools (stock management software) and Hygiene and Food Safety.

Participant profile

Strong desire to support people in vulnerable situations. Motivation to engage in solidarity actions and promote humanitarian values. Interest in learning from and contributing to a multicultural environment. omfortable working with people from diverse and sometimes difficult backgrounds (e.g. homelessness, migration). Ability to take initiative and work as part of a team. If interested in training, a willingness to speak in public and lead workshops is a plus. Basic French is highly recommended for communication with beneficiaries and team members. The volunteer will be supported in improving their French, but some initial understanding will help integration and daily tasks.
