European Solidarity Corps

The power of together

Team Up Slovenia

ASSOCIAZIONE LINK APS

Ljubljana, Slovenia

Description

As part of the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteering program, we will host 10 young people from various EU countries in Slovenia. The project will combine both cultural and civic engagement. It will be carried out in two phases: In the first phase, the volunteers will participate in the Floating Castle Festival, where their main responsibility will be supporting the festival’s ECO concept. However, they will also be welcome to assist in other areas as needed. At the festival, they will work alongside a diverse group of volunteers, artists, cultural workers, and other participants involved in the event. In the second phase, the group will move to Ljubljana and collaborate with the NGO Stigma, where they will help renovate and refresh a safe house operated by the organization. Additionally, the volunteers will take part in a one-day trip to Nova Gorica—European Capital of Culture—and visit the House of the EU.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

In the first phase, volunteers will be accommodated at the Floating Castle Festival camp, sleeping in tents. Therefore, they are required to bring their own sleeping bags. In the second phase, they will stay at a hostel in Ljubljana, where they will also have access to a kitchen. Volunteers will be provided with three meals per day, including at least one hot meal and snacks in between. In Ljubljana, they will be housed in shared rooms with two people per room. Travel to Slovenia will be arranged individually for each volunteer. Transportation within Slovenia will be organized by the host.

Training during the activity

An on arrival training will be provided in the first 2 days of activity, regarding ESC rules and priorities, introduction to the activity program, educational contents, recognition and Youthpass. During the weeks more training sessions will be implemented to provide task-related information and about the Slovenian culture. At least two activities will be focussed on intercultural learning, with different activities organized in cooperation with the volunteers from the counties involved.

Participant profile

Flexible, ready to sleep in tent during the first part of the project, willing to contribute. We do not accept people who has already done long term ESC projects. It is necessary to have a Sending organization from your country, ready to support you during the preparation and the follow-up.
