Description

The Europe House in Nîmes – Europe Direct Information Centre and the hosting organization, St Vincent de Paul High School, are looking for 2 volunteers for a 10 months project in the city center of Nîmes, a south-east city of France. The aim of the project is to facilitate the intercultural exchange between volunteers and students (between 15 and 22 years old), creating and animating workshops for young people using non-formal learning methods. Most of the activities of the volunteer will be linked with spanish AND english languages (assist the teachers), information about Europe (mobility programmes, ERASMUS+), support and help mobility projects for students, contribution to the administrative management and animation of the library. A part of the volunteering will be dedicated to volunteer's personal projects and implementing new ideas/activities. Other activities will be linked with the House of Europe: workshops with children, multicultural events, information fairs ...

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteers will receive a monthly allowance for his/her food, but can also have the possibility to eat in the school's self-restaurant. The volunteers will be hosted in a shared flat (with other volunteers or Erasmus students/interns). If the volunteers will have punctually to move for activities, in that case the school will organize everything. The volunteers will receive 8€/day for pocket money and 10€/day for food. TRAVEL GRANT: according to the distance.

Training during the activity

In order to be able to organise workshops, the volunteers will take part in a training course organised by the "Maison de l'Europe de Nîmes" in which they will learn how to use non-formal learning tools. They will also take part in a training about the EU and will attend French lessons once per week during 6 months. The volunteers will attend the on-arrival and mid-term trainings animated by the French National Agency

Participant profile

- at least basic French skills to be able to understand and be understood - English skills AND Spanish (languages taught at school) - Experience of mobility - Experience with young people (education or animation) - Knowledge of the EU (a plus!) - Dynamism and a real desire to get involved in the tasks - Be flexible, mobile and be able to adapt to different situations and public - Interest in sustainibility/green practices and/or digital tools
