Volunteering in strategic communication for gender equality

ASPEm

ASPEm Bolivia

Cochabamba, Bolivia

Description

The volunteer will collaborate at ASPEm Bolivia’s branch office in Cochabamba, supporting communication management for gender equality. The role involves assisting internal coordination between ASPEm and local partner organizations engaged in supporting women survivors of violence and promoting gender justice, as well as collaborating with other volunteers working in the same field, ensuring coherent and integrated communication across digital and traditional channels and giving visibility to the initiatives carried out. Key responsibilities include: strategic planning; creation of multimedia and informational materials (videos, photos, social media posts, articles, newsletters, infographics); support for logistical and communication tasks during events and institutional meetings; development of awareness-raising materials to increase public understanding of gender-based violence and promote gender equality. The position requires a Monday-to-Friday commitment of 30-40 hours per week.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The house is in Cochabamba, where ASPEm’s local office is based, a city offering activities, courses, shopping centers and services. It is in a safe area, shared with other volunteers, each person having a private, lockable room. Utilities such as wa-ter, gas, electricity and internet are included. The house is in the northern area, close to shops, pharmacies and banks. It has good access to safe and affordable public transportation to reach Sacaba, where the project activities take place. Vegetari-an/vegan options are limited, but there is more variety available in the city center.

Training during the activity

This experience is an opportunity to develop both technical and soft skills (in strategic communication, multimedia content creation, awareness-raising, event organization, intercultural dialogue and collaborative work with organizations and communities), while actively contributing to the promotion of women’s rights and gender equality in a multicultural, international environment. Meetings with other volunteers are planned as opportunity for training and exchange of experiences, challenges and best practices. The volunteer will access platforms like OLS, GOT and SALTO and receive Youthpass.

Participant profile

We are seeking a motivated, curious individual with strong intercultural communication skills and a genuine interest in human rights, gender equality, and social communication. Ideal candidates will preferably have prior experience or developed skills in digital communication, social media management, and content creation (articles, infographics, short videos). The ability to write clear, engaging texts, develop effective communication strategies, and interact confidently with stakeholders and media is highly valued. The ideal volunteer will possess teamwork skills, organizational autonomy, and a proactive approach to creatively solving problems. Sensitivity towards cultural diversity and strong motivation to actively contribute to the success of both the IDeM project and ASPEm Bolivia activities are essential. Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible coun-tries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding to-gether this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU vol-unteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
