Description
The Europe House in Nîmes – Europe Direct would like to host a volunteer for a project of 12 months in Nîmes, a south-east city of France. The volunteer will take part to the activities of the Europe House to inform citizens of our departments of Gard and Lozère about current events and projects about the EU and more specifically mobility programs for young people. The aim of the project is to facilitate intercultural exchanges between the volunteers and the local community. As an important actor of our educational service dedicated to schools, his/her activities will be to promote this service and to create and animate workshops for young people. Most of the activities of the volunteer will be linked with European youth work, the animation and the information on current events of the EU and organizing intercultural events with other volunteers. Furthermore, she/he will be in charge of animating our social networks.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will be hosted in a shared flat in the city with his/her own bedroom, close to shops and the Europe House. The volunteer will have occasionally to move for her/his activities with the Europe House, in that case the Europe House will organize everything. The volunteer will receive a daily allowance of 8€ for pocket money and 10€ for food. Travel costs will be covered depending on the distance calcuted by the ESC programme. The volunteer will work up to 32 hours per week from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5pm and they will be free on Friday afternoon.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will have the opportunity to attend the on-arrival training and the mid-term evaluation organized by the French National Agency. Furthermore, there will be several possibilities to take part to other trainings during the year according to the offers and the interest of the volunteer
Participant profile
We expect the volunteer to share with the public his/her knowledge and enthusiasm for Europe. The motivation, the capacity to bring enthusiasm during the activities, especially for young people and the understanding of the pedagogy and non-formal education will be important criteria. Candidates should have basic knowledge in French (A2) and good level in English (B2-C1). He/she will have to be flexible, communicative and be able to adapt in every specific situation and different types of audience (specially during intercultaral events, linguistics animations and animations with young people) An interest in Communications and social networks would be a plus (posting on social media, website, Canva posters and flyers ... ) An interest to project management and the relative tasks (adminitration part, communication skills, writing emails...)
