Description

If rhythm is your language and percussion is your way of connecting with the world, this opportunity is for you. We are looking for a percussionist or drummer (djembe, hand drums, or experimental rhythm) to join Arts Lab 7.0, a long-term artistic residency dedicated to co-creation, education, and cultural dialogue in a rural Romanian town. You will become part of a an international team working on community residencies, educational drumming workshops, and participatory performances. Your rhythm will help shape one of the four experiential museums we are building with local youth. You’ll explore your own artistic potential, grow as a facilitator, and leave with a strong portfolio and powerful stories to tell. Check the info-pack: https://bit.ly/artslab7 Apply here: https://forms.gle/dKU5HQgkT5ueZ5ndA We will keep this call open until we find the right fit. So far, we selected 14 artists from 11 countries.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

We will provide accommodation in double & triple room, in our youth center (Act House, Cucuteni no.8, Târgu Frumos, Iași, Romania) - check it in 3D: https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=qfesimaqz6c. Târgu Frumos is a small and safe town, located close to Iași, which is the second-largest city in Romania and a vibrant cultural space.

Training during the activity

Our training programs include Romanian language, diverse crafting and non-formal methods, and two trainings provided by the Romanian National Agency. You'll also have the chance to collaborate with other passionate volunteers and learn from former Arts Lab participants about their unique experiences. Our volunteers frequently describe Arts Lab as a life-changing experience, and we're committed to staying in touch for the long term. In fact, we're already planning a conference for all 100 Arts Lab volunteers in 2028!

Participant profile

It take us time to find our dream team, this is why our selection process is very different than other projects. Our volunteers stand out through their artistic profile, perseverance, and commitment. If you are a creative mind, aged 18-30 y. o., if you have an art portfolio, you are hardworking, willing to explore a different topic every month, travel, meet and collaborate with hundreds of people, if it's okay to share your room with two roommates for six months, and work alongside 15 other artists, we encourage you to APPLY.
