Description

ENGIM in Guinea-Bissau focuses on vocational training, strengthening CIFAP school through teacher training and new courses for youth. It has also launched the country's first micro-enterprise incubator, supporting young entrepreneurs in early business development stages. The volunteer will assist the local team in project design, management, and administrative tasks. Main Tasks: 1. Assist in writing new project proposals and concept notes. 2. Support the planning and implementation of ongoing projects. 3. Help monitor project progress and ensure tasks are completed on time. 4. Maintain project documentation, including plans, reports, and correspondence. 5. Track project budgets and expenses, ensuring proper financial management. 6. Prepare simple financial and progress reports for managers and donors. 7. Coordinate meetings and communications with team members and stakeholders. 8. Assist in administrative tasks such as filing, record-keeping, and office organization.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will be accommodated in a shared apartment with basic services (electricity, cold water, gas for cooking). The apartment, located within the CIFAP premises, includes a shared kitchen and living room, while the bedroom with a private bathroom is for the exclusive use of the volunteer. A security guard is present for safety. Wi-Fi is available only during working hours. A monthly allowance of €800 will be provided, covering food and local transport. A laptop will be provided, and reimbursement for mobile phone expenses is included.

Training during the activity

Pre-departure training on local context, ongoing programs, humanitarian principles and security. On-site and pre-departure training on vocational training, business development, intercultural approaches and communication in the non-profit sector. Learning in the workplace in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team. The volunteer will receive briefings/training with different departments related to the mission and the position.

Participant profile

Education & Training: Preferred (non-mandatory) degrees in International Cooperation, Political Science, Management, Economics and Business Administration, International Relations or related fields. Skills & Competencies: Good communication and writing skills. Ability to work in diverse and complex environments. Ability to work in a multicultural team. Organizational and problem-solving skills. Autonomy and ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to adapt to a humble environment and simple lifestyle, work collaboratively, and share living and working spaces with others. Language & Technical Skills: Proficiency in both Portuguese (B1) and Italian (B1) is preferred but not mandatory. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google suite, Wordpress. Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
