Long Term Volunteering in Social Fields in Palermo, Italy

CESIE ENTE DEL TERZO SETTORE

Palermo, Italy

Description

Our volunteering initiative is part of the European Solidarity Corps program, aimed at young people from different countries. The project promotes social inclusion, equal opportunities, and the values of solidarity by involving young volunteers in supporting local centers that work with people with disabilities, socially disadvantaged individuals, and organisations committed to environmental sustainability and inclusiveness. Volunteers will also take part in the preparation, development, and implementation of non-formal educational activities on a variety of topics, such as citizenship, sports, arts, culture, sustainable mobility, youth entrepreneurship, and human rights, for diverse groups, including children, people in need, migrants, persons with disabilities, and NEETs (young people not in education, employment, or training). These activities are organized by CESIE and its local network. Each volunteer will be engaged for 30–35 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

CESIE will provide accommodation for all volunteers. They will be hosted in an apartment located in the city center of Palermo, sharing a room with another volunteer of the same gender. Meals are covered by CESIE. Most of the local organisations where the volunteers carry out their activities are located in the city center. In cases where travel is required over longer distances, CESIE will cover the cost of public transportation.

Training during the activity

Upon their arrival, the group of volunteers will take part in an on-arrival training provided by CESIE in Palermo. Volunteers will also take part in an on-arrival training and mid-term evaluation trainigs provided by Italian National Agency. Moreover, volunteers will also have the opportunities to participate in a mid-term evaluation with CESIE. They will also have the opportunity to attend an online linguistic course and in case 40 hours of optional Italian language course in Palermo at the Italian language institute.
