Volunteering in a non-profit organisation that is focused on meditation and consciousness
Stichting MERU/MVU
Vlodrop, Netherlands
Description
MERU (Maharishi European Research University) is a campus in the serene Dutch National Park De Meinweg, offering courses, retreats, and events for the global Transcendental Meditation community. Our mission is to share the timeless knowledge of consciousness and its practical applications, working on building a healthier, more vibrant, and peaceful world. As part of your experience, you can learn Transcendental Meditation from a certified teacher through a four-day course with follow-up sessions. TM is a scientifically validated, simple, natural, and highly effective technique for unlocking your inner and outer potential. You also get to learn about Vedic culture. By joining our volunteer program, you become part of a supportive community of about 200 people dedicated to service, growth, and shared values. Volunteers contribute in areas such as kitchen, housing, gardening, and office work, with the freedom to explore different roles in the first month to find the ones that fit best.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
MERU offers accommodation that includes your own room in a shared house, usually with one or two other volunteers. The houses are comfortable and include (shared) bathroom, toilet, kitchen and often a living room too. Daily transport from and to MERU is arranged for our volunteers. Biking is also available. On campus freshly prepared organic vegetarian meals are served at lunch and dinner time. But volunteers also get access to a variety of organic food products from the campus store to cook at home, if they like. Both the meals on campus and the products from the store are free of charge.
Training during the activity
MERU organises various programmes for volunteers to deepen their knowledge and integrate the experience of meditation into their daily life. Besides this, volunteers are encouraged to learn new skills on all kinds of levels (work, social, language, etcetera). For this, a mentor will be assigned to the volunteer to provide guidance regarding self directed learning, but also to check the general well-being of the volunteer.
