Description

Since 1995, ENGIM has operated in Albania in partnership with Qendra Sociale Murialdo, promoting vocational training, youth integration, social inclusion, child protection, and the fight against domestic violence. Within this project, ENGIM works in Fier reaching vulnerable groups, including Roma children, children with disabilities, youth from disadvantaged areas, participants in vocational training, and around 2,000 individuals reached through awareness campaigns. Volunteer responsibilities: Provide educational and social support to vulnerable children and youth. Assist in organizing artistic, recreational, and sports activities. Support summer camps and after-school programs for children. Help deliver language, IT, and vocational training courses. Participate in project development, monitoring, and evaluation to promote social inclusion.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will be accommodated in a shared apartment in a community near the project area. Basic utilities such as electricity, water, and internet access will be available, though service may be intermittent due to contingencies. A monthly allowance of €800 will be provided, covering daily expenses, food and local transport. A laptop will be provided, and reimbursement for mobile phone expenses is included. Flexible working hours and a combination of on-site and remote work may be available, depending on the autonomy of the volunteer and the schedule of activities.

Training during the activity

Pre-departure training on humanitarian principles, safety, and program-specific knowledge. On-site training on educational support, community engagement, intercultural approaches within the non-profit sector. Access to training resources for continuous learning. The volunteer will receive briefings/training with different departments related to the mission and the position.

Participant profile

Education & Training: Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, or other relevant fields; Additional training in areas such as child development, inclusive education, non-formal learning, or community engagement is desirable. Skills & Competencies: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to work with children, youth, and vulnerable groups; Cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity; Basic organizational and planning skills; Ability to develop and facilitate learning or social activities. Language & Technical Skills: Proficient in English B2; Intercultural communication skills, experience with minority communities (including Roma families), and digital literacy for educational activities are desirable. Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
