Description
The logistics volunteer will support the country office in Honduras in matters of security at the level of ongoing projects and field activities. In addition, they will participate in contextual analyses to identify risks and will accompany the logistics team in the processes of purchasing, procurement cycle, inventories, pharmacy stock and medical equipment, in line with our action plans and country strategy. The volunteer will be based in Honduras and will travel within the country. They will report to the Support Coordination team at Médicos del Mundo in the country and will be part of the MdM Honduras team. Some Tasks: - Contribute to security context analysis. - Preparar y ejecutar los dosieres de compras. - Support the management of the central pharmacy and intermediate pharmacies, ensuring compliance with institutional procedures and quality standards. - Apoyo en supervisión del inventario físico de los bienes de la misión. - Support the management of the vehicle fleet.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteer headquarters will be in Tegucigalpa and s/he will travel to the department of Cortes where we have an MdM office to support the teams working on different projects. The volunteer will be accommodated in one of the houses of MdM and will receive a monthly allowance to cover his/her food expenses of 700 €. Accommodation; return flights; visa and vaccination costs; health insurance; and basic equipment (laptop & mobile phone) will be provided and covered during deployment. Transportation and accommodation will also be provided and covered for all work-related travel.
Training during the activity
The selected candidate will spend a week receiving a briefing on MdM and induction into the position at the MdM office in the city of Tegucigalpa. This induction includes, in addition to content specific to the areas of logistics, medicine management and security, training on minimum standards and norms for humanitarian action in caring for populations in transit and victims or those at risk of different situations of violence. Volunteers will have the opportunity to join an experienced team, which will allow them to learn about how humanitarian organisations work.
Participant profile
- Intermediate or advanced degree related to the position (vocational training or university degree). Training in the field of health (pharmacy, nursing, public health, etc.) or logistics (medical logistics, stock management, etc.) will be valued. Training or experience in inventory management and warehouse or pharmacy management (will be valued). - Advanced use of Office and Office 365. - Regular use of the internet and email. - Use of design programmes (will be valued). - Spanish essential/English highly desirable. - Experience with NGOs (will be valued). - Proactivity, organisation, autonomy and dynamism. Eligibility : Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months. - Ability to work in a team. - Ability to adapt to different conditions and contexts. - Respect for cultural differences (local customs and traditions). - Risk awareness and respect for safety regulations. - Self-care and stress management. - Availability and flexibility to carry out activities.
