Volunteer at the youth center JFE Anna Landsberger

UNTERNEHMERGESELLSCHAFT HAFTUNGSBESCHRANKT ROTER BAUM BERLIN

Roter Baum Berlin UG - JFE Anna Landsberger

Berlin, Germany

Description

The JFE Anna Landsberger is located in Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Berlin. Our center welcomes young people to spend their free time and take part in non-formal activities such as graffiti, painting, cooking, making music, playing ping-pong, doing sports, handicrafts, and political education. We mainly work with youth between 12 and 27 years old, most of whom speak only German. We also organise vacation trips as well as visits to different places in Berlin and abroad. Our project invites volunteers to socialise with young visitors, spend time with them, support their talents, and help them with their needs whenever possible. In addition, we offer volunteers educational opportunities such as international exchanges. JFE Anna Landsberger is open Monday to Friday from 13:00 to 21:00. Volunteers will support the team and young people for 6 hours a day. https://roter-baum.berlin/international/open-calls/ https://roter-baum.berlin/jugendarbeit/anna-landsberger/

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

We provide an apartment very close to the project. You will have your own bedroom and shared common spaces with other volunteers. It will be provided with the equipment for comfortable living, such as a complete kitchen, a full bedroom and home furniture, central heating and Wi-Fi. For a meal during work, you will have the opportunity to use the kitchen in the YC. A monthly grant of money of about 500€ will be given (including food, transportation (monthly ticket for public transport in the city) and pocket money). You will have an option to use a bike as well.

Training during the activity

You will be offered annual access to the Online Linguistic Support platform to improve your German skills. An option to attend a language school course may be offered during the year (two courses). You will participate in an On-arrival and Mid-term training seminar, organised by the German National Agency. Also, we will offer you support during the volunteer year, with meetings with your mentor. Also, the staff of the project will provide extra support and will guide you more specifically throughout the daily activities.

Participant profile

We are looking for one motivated volunteer who can adapt to different tasks, cultures, and situations, and who can work both independently and as part of a team. The volunteer should be interested in learning about project development, the work of a social organization, and direct engagement with young people. Interests or experience in creative fields such as graffiti, rap, music, or sports will be an advantage. Good spoken English is essential, and a minimum of B1 German is preferred, although applicants with A2 German will also be considered.
