The power of together

Music, events, community building & creativity at Gimle's cafe

FONDEN GIMLE

Roskilde, Denmark

Description

Gimle is a regional music venue and youth culture café. Gimle offers Roskilde and the region's citizens a wide range of cultural events with quality, content and diversity. At Gimle, the volunteers run the arrangements - both before, during and after the events. The focal point of the project is to run Gimle's cultural café, The Raven, together with the other volunteers and staff - this includes bartending, food preperation and event management. The café is open 5 days a week and is a popular gathering place for volunteers and local community. In the café you can organize various events including concerts, international evenings, bar bingo, boardgame nights and theme parties. There are opportunities to fill in with your own creative abilities and ideas, and thereby discover what you are really passionate about. The volunteers are encouraged and guided to create a personal project in order to put their "footprint" on Gimle

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The European volunteer has their own room in a an apartment shared with three other esc volunteers from different EU countries. The apartment is in walking distance to the Gimle venue, and is situated in the center of Roskilde town. The volunteer receives money for food and pocket money every month as well as the same benefits as all other volunteers at Gimle: acces to our concerts, discount in the bar and food during shifts.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will be invited to an on-arrival training and a mid-term evaluation by the National Agency. Gimle offers relevant training throughout the project based on the volunteers interests, such as: sound engineering, event management, event planning, marketing, photography etc.

Participant profile

Young people between 18 and 28 years old. As a volunteer at Gimle, you will be part of a large social community, and you should be ready to be part of it. Besides, we expect that the volunteers will be open, accommodating, curious, creative, and ready to take initiative. No special skills are required, but an interest in event production, music, hospitality and the creative industry is an advantage. We are looking for two volunteers, both for 12 month projects starting January 2026.
