The power of together

Play4Inclusion

ASSOCIAZIONE LINK APS

Altamura, Italy

Description

The project is based on creating musical instruments using recycled objects (old tools recovered from the kitchen or attic, or collected from abandoned waste in urban parks). With the instruments thus made, a collective of “non-musicians” will be formed. Through a series of ensemble music workshops, they will work toward finding a common rhythm, leaving no one behind and learning to listen to one another. The workshops will be shared by the volunteers with groups of primary school children and with residents of a day center for people with cognitive disabilities. The main focus is inclusion through music as a tool, along with attention to environmental issues.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Food and accommodation will be provided by the host organization according to ESC standards. Volunteers will be accommodated in a large flat in double rooms in Altamura.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will work as a team, learn from each other, and share the values of empathy, cooperation, and creativity. Accommodation, food, and pocket money are provided through the ESC program. The activities will be led by experienced youth workers who will provide task related training sessions and organize intercultural activities.

Participant profile

Young people with fewer opportunities, at their first international volunteering experience. We strongly suggest to the applicants to find a supporting / sending organization in their country / region. No specific skill required but interest in sharing, some basic manual ability and will to meet others. The project is NOT for musicians but is a project around the focus "music for all". We also search for people with an interest in sustainability, recycling and zero waste, thus creative people!
