Description
D’Ecouves Verte, a non-formal education association located in the heart of rural Normandy, is looking for international volunteers ready for an immersive experience in a peaceful village environment. Together with a welcoming and committed team, you can take part in local activities, propose workshops for young people, animate a language café, create educational materials, support the organisation of events, contribute in schools, or even develop your own personal project. Here, creativity, community involvement, and non-formal learning come together to foster cultural openness in the territory. The missions are flexible, adapted to your interests, and all new ideas are welcome. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will live in an alternative collective house in central Alençon, each with a private bedroom and shared common areas, offering a friendly and creative living environment. A car is available for daily travel to Fontenai-les-Louvets and other missions, and may also be used for personal trips when possible. Volunteers receive €248 pocket money per month. The full ESC travel grant will be transferred according to distance rules, and an additional green-travel bonus may apply.
Training during the activity
During school periods, volunteers work Monday to Thursday from 9:00 to 16:00. During school holidays, the schedule is Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 18:30. Some weekend involvement may be required for activities such as market stands, association events or preparation weekends. Volunteers may also take part in multi-day programs with overnight stays during youth exchanges or residential activities. You also receive 2 additional days off per month. Each volunteer has a trained Mentor who offers monthly individual and group support.
Participant profile
We are looking for 2 motivated volunteers who are open-minded, curious, and eager to experience life in a rural French community. No specific qualifications are required what matters most is the willingness to engage, learn and contribute. You should enjoy working with young people, be comfortable interacting with local residents, and be ready to take part in a variety of activities ranging from creative workshops to community events. Flexibility, teamwork and a positive attitude are key. An interest in languages, nature, outdoor activities, or non-formal education is a plus. Volunteers are also encouraged to bring their own ideas and develop a personal project during the stay.
