Coordinadora Infantil y Juvenil de Tiempo Libre de Vallecas is a nonprofit association created by organizations and associations working with children and youth at risk of social exclusion in Vallecas district and Ciudad Lineal, in the south-east of Madrid, Spain. Coordinadora gathers 22 associations, 500 volunteers and more than 2,000 children and youngsters are involved in their projects. Our mission is to strength and to encourage the networking of social organizations in Vallecas, to promote social transformation and to bet for the development of children, youth and their families. Volunteer’s activity will be developped with one of our entities: Asoc.Barro. This organization runs a project called JARA in Madrid and there will some activities in cooperation with Europa Joven Madrid office, from the Youth Department of Madrid City Hall. Tasks will be related to support the daily work of the associations like: school support, free time activities, workshops, summer camps...
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will live in a shared flat with other volunteers or with locals in Madrid. This will be arranged by the organization unless the volunteer prefers to organize it by him/herself/themselves. The maximum budget for accommodation is 370€ (utilities included). The volunteer will receive the accomodation money, 200€ per month for food and money for the monthly transportation card. Money will be provided at the beginning of each month via check or bank transfer.
Training during the activity
Volunteers will attend the two trainings offered by the National Agency: On Arrival Training and Midterm Evaluation. Eventually, the volunteer will be able to attend training courses when the hosting organization may offer them.
Participant profile
We are looking for a highly motivated person to work with people at social risk (children, youth and families), minorities and a very intercultural environment. Spanish knowledge is welcome.
