Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers’ House is a traditional cob building, surrounded by a garden, with the pleasant shadow of old walnut trees. The house has a central common kitchen and a bathroom. There are 4 bedrooms. The terrace space serves as an outside living room. Volunteers cook for themselves. They can get some local ingredients, and once a week go for shopping to the town of Tamási 25 kms away. We provide a bicycle to get around in the village. There are plenty of community gatherings for reflection and fun. Look at this 9-minute video from 2021 to get inspired! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrgQNMWkfGA

Training during the activity

Volunteers get introduced to activities of self-sufficiency. They can discover healthy, natural, sustainable lifestyles in a friendly community: *Learn how to produce food from experts of ecological gardening. *Discover a kind of animal keeping that respects animals. *Get insights to natural building technologies. *Try various handicrafts, for example basket weaving, sewing or pottery. *Practice traditional physical activities like archery, folk dance or horse riding. Volunteers can discover their personalities and talents. They can acquire basic planning methods of permaculture.

Participant profile

We expect our volunteers to be open-minded. Ready to share experiences in a small community. Come to us if you want to spend a few months in a quiet, peaceful Hungarian village with 400 inhabitants. In the village there is an informal, organic network of ecologically oriented people, including a few people in their twenties - it is good if you are interested to get to know them! Be ready to help at partly self-sufficient, ecological, family-sized farms, and join their gatherings. You should communicate in English considerably well. One of the four volunteers is usually a person from Hungary, and the three others come from abroad.
