Digital Literacy Champions

Agrupamento de Escolas Terras do Ave

Pedome, Portugal

Description

This activity is designed to bridge the digital divide in our local community, focusing on individuals facing social, economic, and geographical barriers. Volunteers, designated as Digital Literacy Champions, will conduct workshops and training sessions to enhance digital skills, covering topics such as basic digital literacy, online safety, and the use of digital tools for educational and professional purposes. This initiative aligns with the principles of solidarity and inclusivity outlined by the European Solidarity Corps. Digital Literacy Champions act in solidarity with community members, ensuring that individuals with fewer opportunities are equipped with essential digital skills for active participation in the modern, technology-driven society. The activity embodies knowledge sharing and collaboration, fostering a supportive community environment.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteers will be accommodated in an independent, fully equipped house, which includes a kitchen, a dining room, two bathrooms, and two bedrooms. Each bedroom will be shared by two volunteers and is equipped with individual beds. The accommodation is located approximately 10 minutes from the school by public bus. Lunches will be provided at the school canteen on working days, ensuring that volunteers have access to a warm and balanced meal during their daily activities. In addition, volunteers will receive a daily allowance of approximately 16€.

Training during the activity

At the beginning of the activity, the volunteer will take part in an induction training, which includes the presentation of the organisation, the tasks to be carried out, the internal rules and the context of the hosting organisation.
