NARODNO CHITALISHTE BADESHTE SEGA 2006

SMOLYAN, Bulgaria

Description

The volunteers at our mountain Youth Center will support activities focused on developing youth initiatives, social inclusion, and nature-based non-formal education. They will take part in organizing creative and artistic workshops, eco-projects, outdoor learning experiences, sustainability and solidarity campaigns, as well as initiatives supporting the local rural community. A special focus will be placed on artistic expression and hands-on building with natural materials such as wood, clay, and stone, contributing to the development of the center’s spaces in harmony with the environment. Volunteers will also assist in the daily life of the center – welcoming guests and participants, maintaining shared spaces, preparing materials, gardening, and supporting communication through social media. Working in an international team, they will develop teamwork, leadership, practical craftsmanship, and intercultural competences.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteers will work an average of 30 to 35 hours per week. Meals will be provided during all the days. Pocket money are fixed to 205 EUR per month. Volunteers will be accommodated in our center in renovated houses, sharing rooms with other participants. Travel costs will be reimbursed up to a fixed maximum budget (between 180 and 410 EUR), depending on the means of transport and the distance calculated through the Erasmus+ distance calculator. Participants coming from less than 1000 km away will be encouraged to travel by bus or train.

Training during the activity

During the opportunity, volunteers will take part in an introductory training covering the project’s goals, safety, cultural context, and daily tasks. They will join sessions on teamwork, communication, sustainability, and project management. Volunteers will also gain specific skills related to their activities – facilitating youth events, leading creative and environmental workshops, developing media literacy, and working with children and young people. At the end of the project, their acquired competences will be evaluated and recognized through a Youthpass certificate.
