Seeds of Future
Associazione Costiera Amalfitana Riserva Biosfera
Eboli, Italy
Description
For this project in Eboli, Salerno (Italy), we are looking for 10 participants aged 18–30. Volunteers will help regenerate shared green spaces and support community life through hands-on activities. Tasks include creating an educational herbal garden and planting aromatic and tinctorial plants in different parts of the city. These gardens will be used for educational purposes and plant-based products. Volunteers will also help create a digital map and install crochet markers to connect the gardens. In cooperation with Eboli Città Sveva, volunteers will learn techniques to transform raw wool into handmade objects inspired by medieval traditions, supporting fundraising activities. Participants will also take part in medieval events, cultural visits, nature excursions, and non-formal learning activities. Some places are reserved for people with fewer opportunities. Travel days: April 20th and May 20th.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will stay at “Casa sulle Monache” and “Casa Novella” in the historic centre of Eboli. One is a fully equipped apartment for 5 volunteers, the other a bed and breakfast with private rooms and shared common spaces and garden. Meals will be partly shared and partly self-managed, with food provided. Shops, supermarkets, and the train station (connections to Salerno and Naples) are within walking distance. The nearest airports are Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Naples. Travel costs will be reimbursed according to ESC guidelines, with additional support for green travel.
Training during the activity
During the project, volunteers will receive non-formal training from Antonella Dell’Orto, biologist and environmental educator, and Stephanie Dupont, environmental educator and wool craft expert. Training will follow a learning-by-doing approach, developing practical skills in crafts, sustainable practices, and teamwork. Thanks to their experience in local and international projects, Antonella and Stephanie will support volunteers in planning activities, collaborating effectively, and engaging creatively with the local community in an inclusive way.
Participant profile
This project welcomes young adult volunteers eager to learn, challenge themselves, and share skills in garden planning, craftsmanship, and community work. Volunteers will take part in gardening, nature-based activities, and manual work, as well as creative tasks like crochet installations and crafting with wool. Volunteers will also focus on communication and storytelling, supporting social media, documentation, and sharing the project experience. Hands-on skills, creativity, and teamwork are valued.
