Description
Mother sea turtles can go ashore to lay eggs more than once. The time between two nesting slots in the same season is around 1-2 weeks. It is also known that sea turtles are nesting in general every 2-3 years. After breaking the eggs, the cubs remain dormant in the nest for 26 hours to recover their carapaces. After 1 to 7 days, the calves climb up to the surface, but not necessarily all at the same time. The volunteers main job will be the protection of Caretta Carettas during their nesting and hatchling season. Other activities may include: observing the coastline, protecting the area from possible threats marking potential nests nature preservation, cleaning the beaches organizing campaigns and workshops, and events for localsc, arrying sea turtles that are in need of tremarking potential nests, nature preservation, cleaning the beaches.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Modern villa with 4 apartments, each apartment has 2 rooms (2 volunteers per room), a bathroom, and a kitchen space. Apartments are equipped with fundamental facilities (air conditioners, washing machines, dishwashers, WI-FI, etc.). Volunteers receive pocket money and food allowance. For shopping on a budget, the best stores might be Bim, Şok, and A-101. You can also find Migros, CarrefourSA. For the best fruits and vegetables, you can go to local vendors or shop at the street market.
Training during the activity
Volunteers will get the basic training before the activities.

ONLY ITALIANS *** I partecipanti dovrebbero arrivare ben preparati e pienamente consapevoli delle condizioni del progetto (come andare in spiaggia la mattina presto intorno alle 4:00, lavorare sotto il sole e sulla spiaggia, e soggiornare in stanze condivise, ecc.). Dovrebbero essere sinceramente motivati e interessati a questa attività di volontariato. Dovrebbero essere aperti e a proprio agio nel lavoro di squadra. Poiché l’inglese sarà la lingua di lavoro comune, è richiesto un livello base di inglese. Non è necessaria alcuna conoscenza pregressa sulle tartarughe marine Caretta caretta; tutte le informazioni necessarie saranno fornite da noi durante la formazione all’arrivo.
