Description

Põhja-Tallinn youth center is hosting 1 volunteer from September 2026- July 2027 or October 2026- August 2027 (either option is for 11 months). Põhja-Tallinn youth center is having various activities for young people aged 7-26 years old. The youth center offers various activities for youngsters such as e-sports and other technology-based activities, crafts and creativity, board games, books, extreme sports and gym, gardening, street art, cooking, camping, music and as well as outdoors all neighborhood involving events or festivals. The center mainly works using the open youth work method, and our rooms provide safe space for young people to build their interests and social skills and to support their initiative ideas. The volunteer can be part of youth center's everyday work with connecting to young people and be part of our events and start his/her own activities.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You'll be provided with comfortable apartment accommodation including WiFi, your own bed, and a fully equipped kitchen—you may share your room with another volunteer. You'll receive €6 daily food allowance to organize your meals as you wish, plus €5 daily pocket money. Your travel to Estonia and back home is covered according to European distance calculator limits, and local transportation costs for your work commute are also provided.

Training during the activity

The Estonian National Agency provides on-arrival training where you'll meet fellow ESC volunteers and learn essential information about living in Estonia. A mid-term evaluation offers the opportunity to reflect on your experience and connect with other volunteers. You'll have a dedicated mentor providing regular guidance and support for both personal and project-related matters. AEYC will introduce you to open youth work principles, ensuring you understand our inclusive approach and develop practical skills for working with young people.

Participant profile

A volunteer should be friendly, caring, and respectful, with a positive attitude toward different backgrounds, cultures, and opinions. Good communication skills and the ability to build trust with young people are essential. Volunteers are expected to engage with youngsters in activities, support them when needed, and encourage participation in workshops, events, and informal learning activities. Good English skills are required. A volunteer will gain practical experience in youth work, intercultural learning, teamwork, and communication skills.
