Ready to Act: Volunteering at the Special School Complex no. 11 in Krakow

Description
We are looking for volunteers ready to work for 10 months in the Special School no. 11 in Krakow, Poland. This activity will start on the 4th of September, 2026 until the end of June 2027 (10 months). Volunteers support students with severe disabilities in the school routine: learning languages, participating in classes (sport, art, computers, music, social trainings, cooking, theatre and more) as well as will hel with eating, changing, cleaning. Volunteers assists also during school trips to other cities or inside the city of Krakow. Volunteer works 6 hours per day/30 hours per week in the school. Additionaly Foundation IB Polska (coordinating irganisation) organises meetings and workshops dedicated to volunteer's self-development, intercultural learning, Polish history and language. Volunteers meet all together once per month for one day and also once per week in the afternoon with the ESC Team from IB Polska. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers stay in the flat rent by the foundation IB Polska, which is responsible for the whole project and it's budget. Flats are situated in different parts of the city of Krakow but with easy access to the public transport. Rooms are single or double with common kitchen and bathroom. IB Polska provides also monthly tickets for the public transportation in the city. Volunteers get the reimbursement of the travel costs up to the amount based on the distance calculator. Every month volunteers get pocket money and food allowance, usually to their bank account.
Training during the activity
Volunteers are prepared to the project by the sending organsation from the country of origin. Also IB Polska provides preparation to the project after volunteers' arrival. The first days in the hosting organisation are based on the information about the rules, meeting co-workers and getting to know the place of work. There are also some trainings provided by Polish National Agency for ESC volunteers: on-arrival and mid-term. Every month we have one general meeting with the whole group of volunteers and additionaly meetings or workshops in some afternoons.
Participant profile
We are looking for friendly, creative and open-minded candidates from different countries who would like to work with people. Age of participants: 18-30 years old. Because this project is one of the most demanding emotionally, it would be good if candidates have experience in working with children, teenagers or adults with disabilities.
