Description
As a volunteer, you will support children aged 3 to 14 in their daily lives within a warm residential setting. You help create a safe, structured, and caring environment where children can grow and develop. You will: - Support daily routines (morning preparation, school, after-school activities). - Assist the housemother with practical and light household tasks. - Be a positive and reliable role model. - Play and engage with children in an age-appropriate way. - Support creative, sports, and educational activities. - Occasionally assist with transportation (if you have a driver’s licence). - You work closely with the housemother and team to ensure stability and emotional safety. Schedule: Monday to Friday – 7:00 to 15:00 Morning: breakfast preparation, lunchboxes, school bus, light household support. 12:00: lunch break. Afternoon: supporting daytime activities and younger children at home. Weekend: occasionally 1–2 hours of cooking support.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
• A studio at Schoten, a village near the city centre of Antwerp (20km). You have your own bedroom and you share the kitchen, sanitary facilities and living room with another volunteer It’s one of our sides of our organisation were youngsters are living. The studio is located at one of our residential sites where young people live. • Transport by public transport or a bicycle provided by our organisation. • A monthly food budget of €300 euro a month • Pocket money from the ESC program
Training during the activity

Participant profile
• Is at least 20 years old. • Is willing to commit for one year. • Is open to learning and eager to gain experience in working with young people. • Has a personal passion or hobby (sports, music, arts, crafts, cooking, nature, technical skills, etc.) that they are willing to share with young people. • Is respectful, patient, and genuinely interested in young people and their development. • Is flexible and able to adapt to a changing schedule (including day, evening, and occasional weekend activities). • Is willing to learn Dutch and open to finding ways to communicate in a shared language with young people and colleagues. • Stays calm and attentive in challenging situations. • Is self-aware and willing to reflect on their own actions and personal growth. • Supports young people in developing their strengths and talents. • Shows commitment and respect towards everyone involved in the young person’s life.
