Description
In this project a team of 8 volunteers will work in tasks related to greenspace and local culture. The project takes place in the small municipality of Siikajoki in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland. Volunteers will work together with the local community to create activities and increase involvement. Volunteers will work in versatile task in caring and upkeeping greenspaces. In addition, the volunteers participate in planning and implementation of communal events to celebrate local culture. Tasks include eg. maintenance of the outdoor venues (parks, playgrounds etc) planning and implementing activities with local residents creating and participating in communal and cultural events The tentative schedule for the project: 22 June : travel day 23 June – 6 July: actual project dates 7 July: travel day More information: https://nousevarannikkoseutu.fi/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/esc-siikajoki-2026.pdf
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers live in a dormitory. Volunteers will share rooms with others of same gender. The dormitory has kitchen and bathrooms. Volunteers will receive food money to prepare meals for themselves. The main work tasks take place within short distances. If needed, transportation will be provided. Train station with connections to other cities locate within short distance.
Training during the activity
Volunteers will participate in on-arrival training. Task related support and mentoring will be provided.
Participant profile
We would like to receive active volunteers who are motivated to work together with local community. Some tasks are done outdoors so volunteers need to be prepared to work despite the weather. Working hours will change according to tasks, so volunteers need to be flexible. Please apply by sending a motivation letter and CV to erja.simuna (a) nousevarannikkoseutu.fi. The deadline for applications is 27 March 2026 . If we think you could be the volunteer we look for, we will contact you and agree a time for an interview. During the interview we’ll discuss more about the project. The interviews take place on 20 & 22 April 2026.
