Centre for All: Adventure Afloat
INEX - SDRUZENI DOBROVOLNYCH AKTIVIT Z S
Nymburk, Czechia
Description
This project is organised in cooperation with the local NGO The Center for All, a family-oriented community centre offering inclusive leisure and educational activities for people of all ages and abilities, including children with disabilities. Its goal is to provide respite care for families with disabled children through cooperation between Czech and international volunteers. Volunteers gain experience in inclusive care, communication, and community support while contributing to better care practices. The project supports SDG 3 and SDG 10. Volunteers will help prepare the camp by cleaning premises, organising materials, and setting up activities. During the day camp, they will support Czech staff working with children and young people aged 6 to 25 with physical and mental disabilities. Tasks include assisting during activities, providing individual support, serving meals, washing dishes, and helping with daily operations. The work can be mentally demanding and mildly physical.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers stay in shared accommodation, either in one room or up to four rooms, depending on the group. They must bring their own sleeping bag and pillow. Facilities include a washing machine, fridge, kitchenette, Wi-Fi, three toilets, and showers. Breakfast and dinner are prepared by volunteers. During the camp programme, all meals are provided by the host and eaten together with the children. The travel will be reimbursed based on the distance traveled to the activity. You can check the distance on the link here: https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/resources-and-tools/distance-calculator
Training during the activity
Volunteers will attend a lecture about Centrum for All, its mission, values, and approach to volunteering and community support. They will also learn about the everyday lives of people with mental disabilities and how to communicate with and support clients respectfully. The programme may include guided visits to the local museum, brewery, town centre, and municipal office, offering insight into local life, institutions, and community cooperation. The project will be held in English.
Participant profile
A suitable volunteer for this project is someone empathetic, patient, and emotionally mature, with a genuine interest in inclusion and community support. They should feel comfortable helping children and young people with physical and mental disabilities and be ready to assist with both activities and daily practical tasks. This opportunity fits people who are responsible, respectful, adaptable, and able to work closely in a team. The work can be mentally demanding, so volunteers should be sensitive, attentive, and willing to learn how to communicate in a supportive and respectful way. No previous experience is required, but an interest in social work, education, psychology, healthcare, or inclusive community projects is a plus.
