Volunteering in city partnerships for the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen (town hall or parliament)

NaturKultur Bremen e. V.

Freie Hansestadt Bremen, Senatskanzlei

Bremen, Germany

Description

Are you interested in creating a project to interconnect two partner cities? Do you enjoy working self-sufficiently and want to learn more about the political education inside a state parliament or the international administration of a city? Work for the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. Your hosting organisation may be the State Parliament or the Town Hall/Senate Chancellery. 1. The Bremen Parliament is the state parliament of the city-state of Bremen. As the Department for Public Relations/International Affairs, they are responsible for political education. They try to get young people interested in parliament and democratic processes with their own concept (“Klasse Bürgerschaft”). 2. The Department of International Relations and Development Cooperation of the Town Hall is responsible for city partnerships, international networks and development cooperation. The department supports a broad network of non-governmental organisations, civil society initiatives, cultural institutions etc.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

NaturKultur e.V. will be the coordinating organization in charge of all logistical matters. You will stay in a house for ESC volunteers in Gröpelingen. This is a very vibrant, multicultural, and urban neighborhood. It is a place of diversity, but also a real city environment that requires an open mind. You will have your own room, but you will live in mixed-gender apartments. s an ESC volunteer, you will receive health insurance, monthly pocket money for food and other expenses (323€ + 210€). Travel costs will be reimbursed depending on the travel distance (usually between 211€ and 395€).

Training during the activity

In the beginning of your stay with us in Bremen, you will have a weekly meeting with your supervisor at the hosting organization to learn how everything works and you will develop your skills on the way! Above that you will have a mentor who will support you especially in the beginning. You will also participate in the On-Arrival and Mid-term trainings with all volunteers in Germany as well as a training with all new volunteers hosted and coordinated by NaturKultur e.V.
