Description

This will be the 4th edition of our volunteering teams project. Live for 27 days in Riga, Latvia, and become a vibrant part of our Active Rainbow crew and community, focusing on LGBTQIA+/queer experiential activism, artistic expression, digital tools and community building. Pride Begins welcomes 12 volunteers who will be part of a queer multicultural crew, support, experience and get a taste of how the Riga Pride festival is organized. The project is organized into three specialized working teams. We are welcoming you to contribute where your skills and passions shine brightest. You can be part of the production support team, audio-visual or Queer Museum team. Throughout the project you get to learn about LGBTQIA+ human rights in Latvia, exchanging stories and experiences, support the activities of Active Rainbow within Riga Pride and organizing our annual Queer Museum, create audio-visual content and leave your own mark within our local community and organization.

Participant profile

We are offering this opportunity to 12 participants to ensure the intercultural and as much as possible the intersectional dimension of the project. To reach our collective goals, we have identified key requirements and specific qualities we’re looking for in our collaborators to foster the best possible team dynamic that aligns with the project’s mission and energy. You are: • 18-30 years old (not older than 31 on the 20th of May 2026) • LGBTQIA+/Queer person or an active ally to the community, coming from intersectional backgrounds • Legal residents of one of the Erasmus+/European Solidarity Corps programme countries • Willing to increase your personal competencies, accountability, self-empowerment and enhance intercultural awareness • Motivated to contribute to the project and eager to take initiatives and create opportunities for yourself and society • Eager to challenge yourself into aligning together with people from different cultures and making together a nurturing community within the context of the project • Able to work and communicate in simple English • Willing to work collaboratively with an international team of artists, activists, youth workers, mentors, and volunteers through active participation. Other specific skills: In this project, we focus a lot on engaging and actively supporting a collective mission, audio-visual production, and artistic and creative expression. Thus, we are looking for people who are interested in media (photography, filmmaking, podcasting, social media), and desire to create and curate meaningful content together with the rest of the group members, to explore digital impactful storytelling, as well as people who are interested in arts and crafts, and desire to explore their creativity.
