Community digital educator in Ghana
NGO MONDO
KONGO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION
BOLGATANGA, Ghana
Description
Kongo Community Development Association (KoCDA) is a community-based organization located in Kongo, in Ghana’s Upper East Region. The organization is seeking a proactive individual to support ICT development among school children and the wider community in Kongo and Nabdam. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a grassroots organization in rural Ghana that is working to equip young learners with essential digital skills, support their growth, and prepare them for future opportunities in an increasingly digital world. The volunteer will help strengthen computer awareness among students and promote the use of ICT in teaching and learning.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will be accommodated at the NDAHA Guesthouse, where each person will have a private lockable room with an en-suite toilet and shower. Rooms are equipped with ceiling fans, although there is no air conditioning. The guesthouse has running water and electricity, and volunteers can prepare their own meals using the available kitchen, kitchen cabinets, and refrigerator. Tropical foods, fruits, and vegetables are readily available in the area, while supermarkets in the regional capital, Bolgatanga, provide access to additional supplies. Transport means are mini-buses and motorbikes.
Training during the activity
As part of the BRIDGE Project (Building Resilience, Innovation, Development, and Gender Equality), volunteers will work toward empowering vulnerable communities, especially women. Training includes skills development workshops, digital literacy enhancement, participation in UN Women Summits, and facilitating digital training sessions. Volunteers will gain hands-on experience in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and social impact-driven project execution while refining leadership and communication skills.
Participant profile
This volunteer opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about ICT education, digital literacy, and community empowerment. The role is well-suited for someone eager to make a tangible impact in a grassroots organization in rural Ghana, working closely with students, teachers, and community members to enhance their digital skills. Candidates should have a background or interest in education, ICT, community development, or social work. Experience in teaching computer skills, training educators, or running digital literacy programs is highly valued. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to adapt to a rural setting and work with diverse groups. The ideal volunteer should be self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable, with a passion for increasing computer awareness and using ICT as a tool for learning and development
