Description

“Casa a Colori” is located in Bassano del Grappa, a small town near the Dolomites and Mount Grappa, an area rich in history and natural beauty where important events of the First World War took place. Today, it is known for its landscapes, culture, and typical products such as Asiago cheese and grappa. The association was founded in 1992 by local volunteers its initial aim was to address housing issues for migrants from North Africa and Eastern Europe. Over time, it expanded its activities to support access to decent housing and social integration. Currently, it runs a reception center for asylum seekers, providing accommodation, food, Italian language classes, and social activities. It also offers legal advice, manages a soup kitchen for homeless people, collaborates with a youth center, and organizes educational and cultural activities for children and young people.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will be accommodated in a shared flat in Bassano del Grappa together with another volunteer. The apartment includes three double bedrooms and is fullequipped with essential facilities such as a washing machine, oven, microwave, and Wi-Fi. A monthly food allowance of €140 and in addition, the volunteer'll receive pocket money of €6 per day. The working schedule is 35 hours per week (34 hours of activities and 1 hour of tutoring). Training during the activity

The volunteer will take part in an Italian course and use the OLS platform. A welcome training will include an intensive Italian course and orientation(mentoring and tutoring). The volunteers will receive specific training on the needs, challenges, and support strategies for the target groups they will work with (migrants, asylum seekers, and disadvantaged people). Continuous guidance will be provided by the sending, hosting, and coordinating organisations.

Strong interest in volunteering, especially with children, youth, and people at risk of social exclusion. Friendly, flexible, and proactive attitude; open-minded and responsible. Keen to build personal relationships and immerse in the local community. Adaptable to sharing an apartment and a double room. Aware that ESC focuses on developing key competences rather than technical skills. Able to adapt to changes in weekly routines due to emergencies, seasonal needs, or new projects. Motivated to live in a small city, use a bicycle and public transport, and learn a new European language
