Isaaf Jerada solidairty and Developpement is an oganization dedicated to local developement and empowering local communites located in Northeaster morocco. The organization works in the protection of the rights of young people by managing a center dedicated to young people in difficult situations and a child protection unit. It also operates in spaces for the psychological support of children and young students through the promotion of animation and sport. ISAAF also articulates spaces and workshops for women, supporting skills and autonomy developpement through capacity building trainings, language classes or physical activities. The volunteer will contribute to empower the local communities by working directly with children and women groups, supporting them in day-to-day activities. Tasks may include planning and organizating daily activities such as educational workshops (art, IT, music), improving language and academic skills, and raising awareness about child protection.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The mission is based in Jerada, a former mining town in northeastern Morocco with 50,000 residents. Accomodation is provided to the volunteer in a fully equiped and furnished appartment with easy access to services such as grocery stores, and public transport. Regarding transportation within the city, there are small taxis for getting around as well as a city bus network. Jerada is accessible from Oujda by bus, the largest city of the region, located an hour away. The mission covers travel to the location, accommodation (rent, insurance, utilities), monthly allowance and language courses.
Training during the activity
The volunteer selected for this opportunity will undergo a pre-deparyre training provided by the support organization ADICE, as well as a 'on-arrival training' conducted by Isaaf. The volunteer will gain insights into the Moroccan context, including its challenges and opportunities, while developing professional skills in project management, target mobilization, and supporting individuals facing severe exclusion. The volunteer will develop ersonal skills such as adaptability, initiative, decision-making, and creativity while learning arabic and gain experience in a non-profit organization.
Participant profile
Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months. We are seeking a volunteer with significant experience in the nonprofit sector, particularly in child protection project methodology. Skills in facilitating and developing activities in a social center for children and adolescents, along with experience in awareness-raising communication and content creation for training, are highly valued. The ability to work collaboratively in a team is essential, and networking skills are desirable. Knowledge of french is valued.
