Seeds of Solidarity - DRIVHUSET

Åmåls kommun

Åmål, Sweden

Description

Drivhuset is part of the Municipality of Åmål and we work with youths from age 16 to 30 who are currently without employment or studies. These youths may also be in contact with several public agencies at the same time. The aim of Drivhuset is to help youths coordinate the efforts around them and support them on their way to being self-sufficient. At Drivhuset the youths can have meetings, get advice on work, studies or be part of social activities. Drivhuset maintain contact with young people who need continued support after graduating from high school. The volunteer will mainly be a host at Drivhuset, meeting with the youths that visit to socialise with them and be an extra resource for the staff. The volunteer will also plan and join activities with the participants. Having volunteers is a way to promote the European Solidarity Corps and by doing so adding an alternative for the youths in their process of establishing themselves on the labour market.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will share a centrally located apartment with two other volunteers. It has a private bedroom for each of them and a shared kitchen, bathroom and living room. The apartment is equipped with Wi-fi and a TV. The project lasts 12 months and the volunteer will have two days off a month, additionally to the Swedish bank holidays. The volunteer buys and cooks their own food. Åmål is a small town where everything is within walking distance and the volunteer will get a bike to use as well.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will participate in an on-arrival training and a mid-term training in Stockholm held by the National Agency in Sweden and meet volunteers from other Swedish projects.

Participant profile

FOR EU/EES COUNTRIES. At Drivhuset we are looking for a volunteer who is interested in working with people, who is outgoing and empathetic.
