Summer Camp in Litke
Egyesek Ifjúsági Egyesület
Litke, Hungary
Description
Tarisznya Alapítvány (Knapsack Foundation) is a Hungarian NGO promoting equal opportunities for Roma children from disadvantaged backgrounds through child-centered, project-based education. Since 2016, it has supported youth in Nógrád County by creating playful, community-focused learning environments that build confidence, skills, and life opportunities. Its main program, Tarisznya Tanoda in Litke, offers educational, creative, sports, and community activities led by local staff and volunteers, fostering belonging, growth, and curiosity. Volunteers support afternoon activities (14:00–20:00) for children aged 6–14, including games, workshops, sports, outdoor and cultural activities. Working with an international team, they help create a positive, inclusive environment, build trust, and boost children’s confidence. No experience is required—enthusiasm, openness, patience, and teamwork are key.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will be accommodated in a large guesthouse located approximately 200 meters from the after-school centre where the activities will take place. Accommodation will be in shared rooms, with 3–4 volunteers per room. The guesthouse has one bathroom available for the group; however, an additional bathroom is available at the after-school centre. Breakfast is self-served with provided ingredients, lunch is ordered from a local catering service, and dinner varies: it may be prepared together at the centre, cooked by volunteers, or ordered locally.
Training during the activity
From Friday till Sunday an orientation training (movement, sports and games and facilitation skills) will be provided by an experienced Egyesek staff member. This will be followed by mentoring sessions to support the learning and professional development of you. In the institution school staff will provide further support if required.
