Save Africa's Nature in Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania (United Republic of)

Description

STORM project is looking for a team of 15 volunteers to join a 59-day mission in Tanzania supporting local communities living in Sadaani Natural Reserve. We will help the village community of Tumbilini construct a nursery for 50 chidlren who now need to go 6 kilometers back and forth daily through the bush to attend kindergarden as well as support SANA seed bank/conservation project in collecting, storing and re-planting tree species to strengthen the ecosystem surrounding Gongo village. This is a project for nature lovers and people who are not afraid to go through a digital detox. You will be surrounded by nature, bugs and wildlife, interact daily with local communities and learn first hand about community resilience and forest restoration. Besides being in a multicultural team with 14 other volunteers you will improve team work skills, communication and collaboration, learn to adapt to change and overcome challenges being focused on solutions that cater for those less privileged.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers are hosted at SANA camp in shared rooms split by gender, each furnished with two bunk beds, mosquito nets and a wardrobe. The camp has outdoor showers and washrooms, common area for meals and interaction. Rain water is collected and used for sanitation. SANA team will cook daily for the volunteers, providing local ingredients and fresh meals. Bottled water is provided for filling in individual bottles. The team will be transported from and to Dar es Salaam airport by bus. Within the communities the volunteers will walk daily to the villages or get transferred by organized shuttle.

Training during the activity
