Description
The foundation Alonso Quijano is a nonprofit private and independent institution, which’s aim is to contribute with the integral development of the human being through the promotion of the cultural and educative initiatives, especially of those focused on the promotion of reading. The 2 volunteers will: - Support and collaborate in the Program «Spanish for immigrants» - Participate in the Mother and Child Hospital of Málaga, in the project «Get better with books» - Assist in the project «Books for the World». - Help organize and attend events such as Reading, Book Day, and seminars at the university and online. - Have the opportunity to suggest activities that interest them. - Actively assist with the Foundation’s communication efforts, particularly through social media. Volunteers will constantly be accompanied by a staff member and receive guidance and support for the activities carried out.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will live in a room in a shared flat with other young people. The room and the flat will be fully equipped, and electricity, water, and gas will be covered by the host organization. Internet connection is not covered by the hosting/co organization. Volunteers will be able to cook their meals on their own in their flats; for that purpose they will receive 150€ each month. Pocket money: The volunteer will receive the monthly rate foreseen by the Spanish NA, 180€ per month. Local transport: Every volunteer will have a chance to choose bike or bus card if needed.
Training during the activity
We provide a linguistic formation with 1h30 of Spanish class once or twice a week, given by a Spanish volunteer in the Foundation. The coordinators will train the volunteers as they go along, as much in the Hospital as in the Foundation. They will guide and help them every time it is needed.
Participant profile
Recruitment will be done considering the needs of the Foundation and the profile of the candidates. Requirements: Being between 18 and 30 years old when your CES project starts - Being interested in culture and books - Working abilities with immigrants and children. - Working team skills and ability to be with other people.
