Description
The Voluntary activity will support a summer school for children poular called LA ESCUELITA that live in “La Paz” neighbourhood, where there is a lot of social exclusion. The ages of the children are between 5 to 18 years old and the activity is for approximately 70 children. On a normal day of the summer school the volunteers support with breakfast, homeworks, different leisure time activities like workshops, games or going to the swimming pool and also lunch. There are 4 different groups of children split by ages and the volunteers will be split in those groups (normally suppotting in pairs each group). The voluntary service will be done from Mondays to Fridays The normal activities on the timetable is from 9:30 to 15:00, except The excursion days on Fridays that is from 9:30 to 18:00. It could happen that some days the volunteers have to prepare an activity after lunch and will stay (but not more than 16:30) Weekends will be days off.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The accomodation will be an appartment with 5 rooms living room, bathroom, a kitchen to cook and laundry is located very in barrio de Ronda, very close to camino de ronda avenue. The volunteers will receive 6€ per day for the pocket money, the project will cover the breakfast and the lunch with a catering that is hallal (be aware that the lunch is done after children goes at 15:00) during the activity days, the volunteers will receive some money, for the dinner and the weekend meals that should be prepared by themselves. the bus for going to the activity will be cover.
Training during the activity
The volunteers will receive an on arrival training on the first day of activity, also some guidelines how is working the summer school in "La Escuelita" and in the middle of the programm ther will be a midterm evaluation.
Participant profile
Candidates must be 18 to 30 years old and reside in one of the eligible countries. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months. We offer 5 places for international volunteers + 3 locals from Granada Area. Please be aware that local volunteers will not receive the accommodation. The volunteer need to has a “criminal record” document that says that the volunteer has no criminal record this is an obligation for working with children in Spain. and without this document we can not host any volunteer. It would be suitable that the volunteer can communicate either in English or Spanish. (be aware that some of the children's only speak Spanish) It will be very suitable if the volunteer has the profile of a monitor for summer camps /leisure activities or at least that you have passion for working with children.
