Description
Community, sustainability, informal education, personal growth “Hands in Action, Growing Minds” takes place in the enchanting setting of the Monastery of Santa Croce in Campese, near the town of Bassano del Grappa, surrounded by the Venetian mountains and immersed in nature. The project lasts 14 days (plus 2 for travel) and welcomes 12 adult participants from across Europe. This is an immersive experience of volunteering, group living and personal development, designed for young people eager to engage, collaborate, and actively support the local community.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Participants are hosted in shared rooms within the beautiful and peaceful Monastery of Santa Croce, surrounded by nature. Common areas are managed collectively, with the support of a cook who will help coordinate meals. Participants will take turns preparing meals and taking care of the communal spaces, promoting a lifestyle based on cooperation, simplicity, and shared responsibility. Accommodation and meals are fully covered by the project. Travel costs will be reimbursed 100% up to the limits set by the ESC programme, after arrival and upon presentation of original tickets (boarding pass).
Training during the activity
Participants are supported by experienced facilitator and the Monastery’s team, who will guide both educational and practical aspects. Daily program includes yoga, meditation, experiential workshops, manual activities aimed at preserving the Monastery. The facilitator coordinates the project and leads group sessions using non-formal education methods, participatory tools, reflection, group sharing, and personal grow throughout the experience. Participants will have the chance to actively engage and learn new skills at community level, teamwork, cultural animation, and personal development
Participant profile
We are looking for 12 young adults from European Solidarity Corps (ESC) countries who are motivated to take part in a meaningful experience of personal growth, community life and service. The ideal participant is: ● Open to manual work and group living ● Curious, reflective, and willing to step out of their comfort zone ● Interested in nature, inner well-being, and sustainability ● Motivated to develop educational and interpersonal skills ● Comfortable living in a simple, off-grid environment away from daily digital routines Previous experience in volunteering, youth work, or educational activities is appreciated but not required.
