European Solidarity Corps

The power of together

Support for seniors and people with disabilities

Kölner Freiwilligen Agentur e.V.

Cologne, Germany

Description

Volunteers from the European Solidarity Corps support social care for older and disabled people in our facilities—for example, through creative group activities, day trips, or providing individual support in daily life. The European added value stems from intercultural exchange and active solidarity: The volunteers bring new perspectives and cultural insights while gaining valuable social experience. For the residents, this means participation, variety, and meaningful connections. The volunteers take on supportive roles in the social care of the residents. They assist with group and individual activities in the areas of physical activity, creativity, music, play, and daily routines. In doing so, they contribute their own ideas, promote intercultural exchange, and actively shape community life—always in close collaboration with the professional staff. Their contribution complements the existing team and noticeably enriches the social environment.
