Up to You(th): Art Residency Project
COMUNE DI PADOVA
PADOVA, Italy
Description
This project is for a young artist willing to have an impact on the community. Progetto Giovani, the youth department of the Municipality of Padua that offers services and opportunities for local young people, is looking for 1 volunteer to join its Creativity team. The selected volunteer will take part in a cultural and artistic journey as part of “MAC Studi d’Artista”, a shared artist studio program developed to encourage and support emerging artists. This setting will allow the volunteer to work on their own creative project, while also connecting and collaborating with Italian young artists. Together with the other artists, the volunteer will design and lead workshops – tied to their personal artistic practice – aimed at engaging both local youth and adult communities, contributing to the revitalization of an urban area. Other activities include assisting the Creativity team with cultural event planning and organization.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will be hosted in a flat rented by the Municipality of Padova and located in the city of Padova (approx 3,5 km from city centre - 20 mins tram ride), to be shared with other ESC volunteers. The flat has 4 singles and common spaces: 1 kitchen, 2 bathrooms, small balcony. Wifi included. Volunteers will receive a public transport pass (urban fare) and a second-hand bike. Pocket money and food allowance will be transferred to the bank account of the volunteers monthly.
Training during the activity
Volunteers will participate in the training organised by the National Agency. The supporting/sending organisations will take care of the pre-departure training and the final evaluation of the experience. Mentoring sessions and training will be provided by Progetto Giovani to train and support the volunteers during the project and for the completion of the Youthpass. Italian language learning will be provided through the OLS platform and informal conversation classes at the office. Volunteers will be asked to complete an online Italian test before they arrive.
Participant profile
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and socially aware volunteer with a keen interest in artistic practices, particularly those connected to contemporary art and socio-cultural dynamics. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently on his/her own artistic research and projects, and, if necessary, bring along any personal technical tools or equipment. He/she should be capable of organizing their own time and tasks, and be open to proposing original ideas in collaboration with the team. A working knowledge of Italian is strongly suggested, as some meetings with curators and art professionals may take place in Italian. Having a personal portfolio of artistic works is highly encouraged. If interested, please fill in our form: https://forms.gle/9GsJK1wA6kmB2vKR9
