Description

The Brandenburgische Sportjugend is an independent working youth organisation in the ''Sports Federation Brandenburg''. Its members are children and teenagers, as well as their youth representatives who are organized in more than 2.500 sport-clubs. It counts more than 137 thousand members under the age of 27 and is the largest youth association in the state of Brandenburg. The project foresees to host 1 volunteer in the Organization´s Department of International Cooperation for 12 months. The Department imparts knowledge about planning, organization, implementation, finance and evaluation of international activities. Main tasks of the volunteer are: - support the co-workers of the Department in all their projects, - get acquainted with sport structures and EU programs and funding in international youth work; - support the planning, preparation and organization of international projects; - look after young people from abroad and international guests.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation: The volunteer will live in one of our 3 ESC volunteer accommodations in Potsdam. Each volunteer has his/her own room in a well-furnished and fully equipped flat. Food: A monthly food allowance of 345,00 € will be provided via bank transfer. Pocket money: 210,00 € will be provided via bank transfer. Local Transport: The volunteer will be provided with a monthly ticket for the use of public transport in Germany (Deutschlandticket). The volunteer will also receive a bike.

Training during the activity

Our organization offers the volunteer the possibility to take part in a language course, according to their current level of German. All participants must take part in the two mandatory ESC seminars during their project: On-Arrival and Mid-Term Training. These are opportunities to meet volunteers from other countries, to understand EU values and to reflect on the ongoing project. Participant profile

The organisation expects the volunteer to be: - interested in gaining knowledge about EU Youth policies and programs and the funding opportunities provided by EU programs in general; - interested in international social youth work; - interested in sport orientated youth work; - interested in the conception and implementation of locally and internationally oriented sporting events and projects; - interested to work with young people; - dedicated, committed and creative; - sociable, patient and open-minded A working knowledge of the german language is definitely a plus, as a lot of the daily tasks require speaking and writing in German.
