Description
⋆˚✿˖° To be eligible, please fill out our Application Form through Google: https://bit.ly/4vrTofQ ⋆˚✿˖°For six weeks, participants become part of a small international community shaped by nature, seasonality and collective responsibility. At Cold-hill Shelter, nature becomes part of your daily environment. You wake up with it. Work in it. Rest in it. Pay attention to it. You begin noticing things that often disappear behind screens and schedules: the rhythm of your own energy. Some days you will work outdoors, help improve community spaces. Other days you'll cook together, learn new practical skills or participate in workshops and discussions. Some evenings will be spent around a fire. Others under the stars. Life at Cold-hill Shelter follows a different rhythm than most of us are used to. The weather matters. The seasons matter and the people around you matter.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
We choose to live simply and lightly on the earth and this shapes our daily practices. It's important to understand and embrace this aspect of the experience. You will be sleeping in 4-5 person tipi tents. Our electricity comes from solar panels, meaning power is abundant on sunny days but limited during cloudy periods. For sanitation, we exclusively use outdoor compost toilets which we've built ourselves as part of our commitment to nutrient cycling and water conservation.
Training during the activity
Cold-hill Shelter has nearly 10 years of experience in climate-conscious farming, natural building, off-grid systems and resilient rural living. The camp creates an opportunity to share this knowledge not through theory alone, but through direct participation in everyday systems and processes. Participants will contribute to ongoing community projects. During the project, participants will also spend one week volunteering at the Gyüttment Festival — Hungary's largest eco festival and one of the country's most important gatherings focused on regenerative practices and community resilience.
Participant profile
Volunteers must be 18-30 years old based in an ESC programme county! Do you long for genuine connection – with the land, with a close-knit community, and perhaps most importantly, with yourself? We want everyone to have a fulfilling and enjoyable experience, therefore it’s important you are open to everyday tasks like gardening, building, cooking and maintenance, these are -building blocks- of our life, which will infuse yours too.
