Volunteering in Palermo | Creating Cultural Crossroads with GIOSEF Italy VOL.4

Giosef Italy Giovani Senza Frontiere APS

Palermo, Italy

Description

Spend 9 months volunteering in Palermo, Sicily, and become part of GIOSEF Italy's international team. This European Solidarity Corps project offers hands-on experience in youth work, communication, community engagement and international cooperation in one of the most multicultural cities of the Mediterranean. Volunteers will support communication and dissemination activities, podcast production, educational initiatives, community projects and European programmes. They will contribute to activities promoting youth participation, social inclusion, sustainability, intercultural dialogue, anti-mafia education and active citizenship. Through local initiatives, Erasmus+ projects, Youth Exchanges and Training Courses, volunteers will gain practical experience in non-formal education, international youth cooperation and community-based work while living in a vibrant Euro-Mediterranean environment.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will live in a private room within a shared apartment with other international volunteers in Palermo. Accommodation costs and utilities (water, electricity, gas and internet) are fully covered by GIOSEF Italy. Volunteers will receive monthly pocket money and food support according to ESC regulations (currently €360/month). Local transportation costs related to project activities will be reimbursed. Travel costs from and to the home country will be covered according to the European Solidarity Corps distance calculator and programme rules.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will receive continuous support throughout the project, including mentoring, supervision and regular team meetings. They will participate in the ESC On-Arrival Training and Mid-Term Evaluation organised by the Italian National Agency. Learning opportunities include communication and podcast production, non-formal education, youth participation, community engagement, intercultural learning and exposure to Erasmus+ Youth Exchanges, Training Courses and local community projects.
