Description
Allianssi Youth Exchanges works for intercultural learning and global understanding via international learning mobility programs and projects in Finland and abroad. We are involved in projects engaging youth and increasing awareness on environment, climate justice, sustainability and diversity. The volunteer takes part in organising events and activities and acts as a group leader for example in a volunteer camp or youth exchange. The volunteer communicates with young people related to different programs through social media and documents the activities using videos and pictures. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer is placed in Allianssi Youth Exchanges office in central Helsinki. The accommodation is organised in a shared flat with good connections. The volunteer will receive food money and will cook their own food. Helsink has very good public transport system.
Participant profile
The volunteering period is 4-8 weeks in July-August starting in early July if possible. We look for 1-2 volunteers with interest in working with and for young people related to intercultural learning, environment, sustainability, diversity and youth wellbeing. The volunteer will take part in organising events and trainings and act as a group leader, so interest towards these and experience are seen as an asset. We are involved in several projects where the volunteer could assist in raising awareness on environmental and sustainability issues, climate justice and Baltic Sea. Skills or previous volunteering or work experience related to communications (photographing, video making, story telling), group leading and non-formal learning will be useful. We value sufficient level of English, self-initiative, active and positive attitude towards life as well as being comfortable leading a group. The volunteer will be a member of a small but active team of Allianssi Youth Exchanges.
